Todd Turnbow is a Jackson, Tennessee native with a degree in marketing from Union University. Todd spent 10 years in manufacturing management with Fruit of The Loom and Jockey Sportswear. After working in management, Todd went on to work in sales and marketing for 10 years. The last two to three years Todd had worked in building material sales for Acme Brick Company before deciding to go into business for himself. Todd is now the owner/operator of the America’s Swimming Pool Company servicing the Jackson area.

How did you learn about the brand? I got the idea after I had my own pool installed in my backyard about 3 years ago. It was a challenge to learn how to take care of my investment in regards to water chemistry and equipment. We would take a water sample to the local pool storefront and get tested and this would lead to having to buy hundreds of dollars in chemicals and spend the balance of the day mixing and applying the chemicals hoping to get the water balanced. At that point I did see a need for a pool company that would market itself in a professional manner to pool owners in regards to maintenance, service, and renovation and bring this high level of service to the customers own backyard. During my research I found ASP and was immediately impressed.

What was appealing to you about joining a franchise system? The training was one of the biggest factors in deciding to go into franchising with ASP. They have a great system and they set you up for success through their support, both technical and on the business side.

What makes your business different? My business plan is to offer “FLAT RATE” pricing on maintenance programs, service repairs, new equipment and renovation to pool area. This offers the customer a total price for the service and gives them a piece of mind and comfort level of what they will be paying.

What challenges have you overcome to get where you are now? Learning a new business has been the most challenging part of the entrepreneurial experience. I am glad to have the training and support of ASP’s corporate team to help me succeed.

Do you see any parallels between your previous work and now? The parallels between my previous work and my business would be very simple; you have to offer a high level of customer service along with great products and competitive pricing to be successful. Also, working in the building materials industry for several years I have developed a network of contractors and contacts that will help with the renovation segment of the business.

What are your expansion or development plans? Right now I am focused on building my business and getting more involved with the community, but I would love to eventually expand and open more territories in Western Tennessee.

Do you have any other interesting hobbies or passions? I love the outdoors and I have a passion for landscaping, golf and fishing.
