ASP Welcomes Matthew Blackmon!


Matthew Blackmon is originally from Long Beach, Mississippi and attended Mississippi State University where he graduated with a degree in construction management. After graduation, Matthew went to Orlando, Florida.  Here he worked with Beazer Homes, a residential construction company and then worked with ValleyCrest, a landscape construction company where he was a project manager. When the Gulf Coast was impacted by hurricane Katrina, Matthew decided to return to Mississippi to assist a local contractor to help rebuild the surrounding communities that were in much need of assistance. Matthew along with his family are active in their community and are looking forward to providing a “one –of- a- kind” business service for residential as well as the commercial industry in their hometown and surrounding areas.

How did you learn about the brand?
I was searching for a business to run on my own. Initially, I was looking for a landscape franchise, but I came across ASP during my research and decided to forego an opportunity with a landscape franchise because ASP offered a better business model.

Why did you choose an opportunity with America’s Swimming Pool Company?
The most appealing thing about ASP is the coaching and support provided throughout the whole system. If you have any sort of problem, someone in the system has an answer or solution for you. It’s fantastic, the system and service is unmatched in the industry.

What makes your business different?
We’re a much more professional organization and our flat rate pricing for repair and maintenance work is somewhat unheard of in the service industry. Additionally, we treat every person we do a job for the way we’d like to be treated – with respect and integrity. Working in the construction industry for so long I’ve seen the importance of a professional environment and giving the customer a great experience.

What challenges have you overcome to get where you are now?
Taking the risk to jump into the deep end and become a first-time entrepreneur is a challenge. At the same time, it’s also very exciting. I’m looking forward to being able to help the community and provide the satisfaction of good service.

What are your expansion or development plans?
I’m looking to be the go-to company for the entire Mississippi Gulf Coast!

Do you have any other interesting hobbies or passions?
In the last years or so I’ve really enjoyed boating, wakeboarding, wake-surfing and just being out on the water. But my greatest passion is spending time with my five month-old daughter and fiancĂ©.
